Our client had been using Salesforce Unlimited edition for approximately 10 years and was interested in moving to a lower edition. They were faced with the challenge of maintaining the cost of over 200 Salesforce licenses, which had become too expensive for them to continue.

In Salesforce, upgrading the organization edition is an automated process. However, downgrading the edition requires manual effort and expertise.
